You've created a blog, filled it with content and...now what? When will the visitors show up? The truth is that accidental traffic is very small. If you want traffic to your site, you need to promote the heck out of it. Here are a few tips to get you some fast traffic.

1. If you have a blog, join traffic exchange sites like BlogMad or BlogExplosion. Obviously, as these sites are traffic exchange, you will need to spend a fair amount of time surfing the blogs through the site blog surfers. This might seem annoying but you would be amazed at the amount of traffic you get if you surf through sites while you are doing something else, like, watching television.

2. Comment on other blogs. Bloggers love to get comment and they love to check out the sites of bloggers who leave comments. Make sure your comments are relevant to the post and you could earn links as well as traffic!

3. Submit your site to networking sites. These are great for traffic.

4. Become a member of MyBlogLog. MyBlogLog keeps track of your site's visitors and lets others know when you have paid them a visit. Many people will check out the sites of their recent visitors. Like leaving comments, this could be a great way to earn links as well as traffic!

5. Get your blog listed on sites like StumbleUpon and Digg. The amount of traffic that is driven to websites through these two portals is phenomenal.

6. Make sure that you have claimed your blog at Technorati.

7. Use a Ping service to ping sites like weblogs.com and Technorati to let them know when your blog has been updated.

8. Bookmark your posts at Del.icio.us.

9. Link! Link! Link! Link to sites you think are interesting and then make sure that your links are clicked. It is also a good idea to send a quick email to each site you link to. They might then give you a reciprocal link on their site.

10. Make sure that your url is listed in all of your communications-in the signature of your email and forum posts, on your business cards, on your company's letterhead, etc. Whenever you communicate with anyone, make sure they know how to get to your site.
